Abstract
891,386. Pipe coupling. ABBOFLEX Ltd. Dec. 30, 1960 [Dec. 31, 1959], No. 44868/60. Class 99(1). A joint member on a flexible tube of helically wound material 1 has a coupling member 8 having a skirt 5 and a cord 6 of compressible material in the helical groove of the tube, said skirt 5 being swaged or otherwise contracted radially on to the tube to make a rigid and fluid-tight connection of said tube and said joint member. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the skirt 5 near the tube end may have a helical rib mating with the tube helical groove, the extremity of the skirt may have internal serrations engaging braiding on the tube and the skirt 5 may be internal with member 8. Fig. 1 (not shown), shows a male joint member similar to that of Fig. 2.
