Abstract

891,262. Conveying furnace charges. OFU OFENBAU-UNION G.m.b.H. March 18, 1960 [March 21, 1959], No. 9707/60. Class 51 (2). [Also in Group XXX] A device for synchronizing a plurality of fluid pressure cylinders operatively associated with a movable part of an industrial furnace, which part is to be moved uniformly, more particularly for the actuation of walking beam conveyers for furnaces, characterized in that the movable part is connected at least at two points spaced apart from one another by linkages mounted at fixed points and so connected together that they move equal distances, thus preventing one point of the movable part from leading relatively to another. A walking beam conveyer for furnaces comprises an upper, material carrying beam 10 horizontally movable by means (not shown) on wheels 11 mounted on a lower beam 100 pivotally connected to lifting means comprising cylinders 2 and pistons 20 which are pivotally connected to supports 21 to enable the beam 100 to move longitudinally. The beam 100 is connected at each end to a synchronizing linkage comprising T-shaped rockable levers 4 each pivotable about a fixed point 4a at the intersection of the head 40 and stem 400, which levers have the ends of the heads 40 connected together by the rods 5, 50 and the stems 400 are connected at a pivotal point 400a to tie rods 500 which in turn are connected to the lower beam 100. Two such linkages may be positioned adjacent and parallel to one another when the conveyer is relatively broad, the levers 4 being connected to form a rigid unit by a shaft extending through the pivotal points 400a.
