890,792. Cams and tappets. TUCKER EYELET CO. Ltd., GEORGE, and HENSHAW, J. N. May 22, 1958 [May 23, 1957], No. 16351/57. Class 80 (3). [Also in Group XXII] A blank-transferring mechanism for metal-working machines comprises a work-carrier mounted for to-and-fro movement which, if checked in its motion due to an article being jammed, remains locked in this position when the jam is relieved and until the feed means engages it again at the proper point in the movement cycle. A slide 2, Fig. 1, moving in a guide 4 is operated by a cam 8 engaging a follower 34, the latter being normally kept up to the cam by a coiled spring 46 anchored at one end to the guide 4. The follower is connected to the slide 2 by an automatic locking device 18 which if, due to jamming, is prevented from moving along the cam profile, the slide is locked in its halted position until the cam-profile again picks up the follower.
