Abstract
Composition suitable as a high voltage insulator, e.g. in electric cables or conductors, comprises an olefin polymer and up to 20% of one or more paraffin hydrocarbons or aryl (excluding naphthyl) or halogen substituted aryl derivatives of said paraffin hydrocarbons, of melting point below 20 DEG C. and boiling point above 120 DEG C. In the case of polymers produced by low pressure processes, the hydrocarbon is not an unsubstituted paraffin of boiling point from 250 DEG -500 DEG C. Optional ingredients are inorganic fillers and stabilizers such as salicylaldehyde/ethylene diamine addition products.
