Abstract
890,509. Liquid-pressure engines. WIGGERMANN, G., and REINERS, W. May 20, 1958 [May 27, 1957; May 31, 1957], No. 16152/58. Class 69 (2). [Also in Group XXXIV] In an axial piston motor of the type having a cylinder drum inclined with respect to the output shaft, a driven disc 3 is supported radially and axially by a ball bearing having its inner race 4 formed by a part of the driven disc and with a contact angle # of 40 to 50 degrees. The balls 5 of the bearing are separated by tubular spacers 6 and the outer race of the bearing is retained in a bearing housing 1 secured to the motor housing 2. The output shaft 7 has a conical end portion fitting a tapered bore in the disc 3 and, together with a plate 9, is secured to the disc by a differential screw 10. In a modification, a second ball bearing co-operates with the disc, the inner race again being formed by the disc, but the outer race is mounted in the housing with some radial play so as to allow for inaccuracies in manufacture. In a further modification a second ball bearing has an outer race mounted in the housing 1 and an inner race co-operating with the disc with some radial play. In the embodiment of Fig. 6 the driven disc is provided with a tubular extension having internal splines 28 coupling the disc to a shaft of a machine to be driven, and two ball bearings having equal but opposite contact angles support the disc in the casing of the driven machine, to an end face 27 of which the motor housing 2 is secured.
