Abstract

A tile, panel or sheet (see Group X), is prepared from polystyrene which is dyed in the mass by a method wherein polystyrene granules mixed with a blowing or gasification agent are supported, e.g. in a muslim bag in a vat of spirit-soluble dyestuff. After drying the granules are expanded to produce the material forming the tiles or panels which are then subjected to pressure by the platen to form the recesses, grooves &c. therein.
