Classes 20(4) and 107 To provide a crack-absorbing zone between a terrazzo flooring surface layer of tiled or monolithic construction and the concrete base, the concrete bedding layer between the surface layer and the base is integrally formed with a plurality of relatively spaced supporting columns which are self-attached to the base over an area of not more than 50% and not less than 25% of the whole area. The columns may be formed by the use of perforated paper felt or like fibrous material or a perforated plastic, e.g. polyethylene, film between the base and the bedding layer.
