863,611. Modifying acoustic properties of rooms. BRITISH BROADCASTING CORPORATION. May 16, 1958 [May 17, 1957], No. 15819/57. Class 13. [Also in Group X] A sound-absorbing panel for covering part of a wall comprises soft porous layers 13, 14 on opposite sides of a perforated hardboard sheet 12, the layer 14 being faced with a sheet 15 of polyethene or an open-weave cloth having its free surface coated with polyethene. The layers 13, 14 may comprise slag wool felt and polyurethane sponge respectively or may both be made of the same material. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the layer 13 is replaced by alternate felt and, hardboard layers. A wooden frame 10 and a backing 11 of wire netting also are provided. The panel may be rectangular, triangular, circular or may be bent into the form of a cylinder for lining a cylindrical chamber.
