Abstract
890,345. Cooling dynamo-electric machines. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 10, 1961, No. 35528/61. Class 35. In a turbo-generator having hollow electrical conductors 2 there are provided one or more hollow electric terminals 3 electrically connected to the conductors by electrically conductive tubing 4 which also couples together the internal passages of the conductors and terminals to permit the passage of cooling water, and electrically insulating tubing 6 connected to those ends of the terminal passages which are remote from the conductive tubing 4 in order to provide a cooling water discharge path. The invention is applicable to the turbo-generator disclosed in Specification 886,315 from which it was divided, and the water is fed from manifolds 1, 8 which also feed the hollow stator windings of that Specification. The generator output is fed from terminal 3 through an electrically-conductive tubing 7 which may be connected to a transformer, and through which cooling water is fed via insulating tubings 9, 10 to a drain. The insulating tubing preferably is of P.T.F.E.
