Abstract
949,621. Winding layouts for dynamo-electric machines. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. March 7, 1961 [May 6, 1960], No. 16163/60. Heading H2A. In a fully equalized doubly re-entrant duplex winding having even equalizer pitch, each winding 3, 4 is connected to a separate commutator 1, 2, thus increasing the commutator segmental pitch, and has an additional connection 3a made from coil noses 8<SP>1</SP>, 101 of winding 3 to commutator 2 and from coil noses 9<SP>1</SP>, 11<SP>1</SP> of winding 4 by connectors 4a to commutator 1. Thus both windings are connected to both commutators and by the simultaneous commutation of a top conductor of one winding with the bottom conductor of the other winding sparkless commutation at high currents is obtained. The fully equalized commutators may be located either both at one end or one at each end of the armature. The number of conductors required to pass through the core are given for both commutator positions.
