889,530. Stuffing-box substitutes. TIMKEN ROLLER BEARING CO. April 28, 1958, No. 13364/58. Class 122 (5). [Also in Group XXXIV] A bearing assembly comprises an outer race 7 mounted in a housing 12 and an inner race 6 carrying a flexible sealing member 15 having a flange 28 adapted to bear against the housing 12 and a flange 25 adapted to bear against the end of the outer race 7 only after a predetermined amount of wear of the flange 28 has taken place. An annular groove 30 increases the flexibility of the flange 28 relative to the diaphragm 18. A mounting member 22 is adapted to be press-fitted on the inner race 6 and may be moulded or vulcanized into flanges 20, 21 of the seal.
