889,495. Overload release clutches. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. July 30, 1959 [Nov. 10, 1958], No. 26241/59. Class 80 (2). An overload clutch for a power lawn mower comprises a driving gear-wheel 51 loosely mounted on a driven shaft 45 and having recesses 63 co-operating with balls 64 in a cage 65 fast with the shaft 45. A presser plate 66 is slidably mounted on the driven shaft and is urged to the left by leaf-springs 72. On overload the balls ride out of the recesses and move the presser plate to the right, the leafsprings being brought overcentre so that they now urge the presser plate to the right and the clutch remains disengaged until reset manually by rotating a cranked shaft 80 to return the presser plate to its initial position.
