889,487. Reciprocating pumps. HUNT, H. L. Feb. 9, 1960 [Jan. 6, 1959], No. 558/59. Class 102(1). A manually-actuated reciprocating pump for dispensing liquids or semi-liquids, e.g., grease, comprises a body 2 having a lateral duct 4 connected through a hose 12 and non-return valve (not shown) to a pressure container and a bore 6 formed with a counter-bore 24 in which is fitted a tubular insert 14 slidably mounting a plunger 40 urged upwardly by a spring 42. On depression of the plunger, grease admitted to the insert bore through radial ports 20 is forced at high pressure through the bore 58 of a spring-loaded annular piston 56, delivery valve 6b and nozzle 70. On the plunger 40 abutting the piston 56 both move down together so that a larger quantity of grease at lower pressure is dispensed.
