Abstract
888,542. Cleaning fibres. METER & CIE. A.G., JOH. JACOB. Sept. 18, 1959 [Sept. 19, 1958], No. 31893/59. Class 120(1) A cleaner for fibres includes. a perforated cage or conveyer located in a suction chamber to receive fibres which are then passed to: a plurality of heaters in series, each heater being: in a separate compartment and at least one of the compartments being connected by a duct to the suction chamber. Fibres entering through a duct 4 are received on a perforated cage 3, the interior of which is connected to an exhaust fan. Fibres adhering to the outside of the cage 3 are compressed by a resiliently covered roller 7 and thereafter knocked by a leather-flapped stripper roller 6 on to a guide plate 9 that directs them to a pair of feed rollers 10 preceding a heater 11 in a compartment 11<SP>1</SP> provided with a grate 12 through which waste matter passes. The heater 11 throws the fibres into a chamber 15 having an outlet 17 through which dust-laden air is drawn to enter the suction chamber 2 and cage 3 on which any entrained fibres are deposited. Most fibres pass through feed rollers 14 to a second heater 18 and then to a third heater 20. Air draughts in the machine are controlled by slides 16<SP>1</SP>, 19<SP>1</SP> and 23<SP>1</SP>.
