Abstract

888,508. Control systems for consuming devices; rectifying. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. Dec. 10, 1958 [Dec. 11, 1957], No. 39846/58. Classes 38 (2) and 38 (4). The A.C. or D.C. current supplied to a load from an A.C. source is controlled by one or more transistors in series with the load, having a conduction angle controlled by a first signal, with heavy positive feed-back providing a second signal to ensure that the transistor is fully conductive during the selected portion of the input half-wave. A load R L is supplied with alternating current from a source O, R, through a back-to-back pair of common emitter transistors and diodes which conduct on alternate half-cycles for periods determined in an unspecified manner by an A.C. control signal applied to transformer 5. A current transformer 4 in series with the load provides the feed-back signal. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the two diodes and transistors form a full-wave rectifying circuit to supply a D.C. load, the feed-back transformer having a tapped primary between each transistor and the load. In a further modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), a single transistor controls the pulsating output of a full-wave bridge rectifier.
