A projection screen mounting assembly comprises two rigid elongated members adapted to hold opposite edges of the screen which is evenly tensioned by means of spring- loaded stretcher-members holding, at their ends, the two elongated members in spaced relationship. Fig. 1 shows a rigid basemember 1 and a preferably circular-section rigid upper member 4 to which members may be attached, by any suitable means, the screen 4. Each stretcher member comprises two parts 6, 7 in slidable engagement, as shown in Fig. 2, a compression spring 9 in the tubular members 7 exerting pressure on the members 6. The latter are constrained within the members 7 by means of a slot 11 engaged by a pin 10 traversing the interior of the said members. The upper ends of members 6 are provided with a keyhole slot 12 which engages a pin 13 at either end of the member 4 the screen becoming tensioned while the ends of the slot 11 are clear of the pin 10. For collapsing the assembly, the pins 13 and slots 12 are disengaged, and the stretcher members swing down on the pivot pin 8 to lie against the base 1, which has retractable feet 2, while the upper member 4 serves as a core for rolling up the screen and is firmly held against the base by the clips 14. The two screen-supporting members may also be vertical whereby one of them for example, may be hinged to a wall. The stretcher-members may comprise a single rod with a sprung head for bearing directly against member 4 using any suitable engaging means.
