887,744. Lining pipes by extrusion. ECONOSTO, BUREAU VOOR ECONOMISCHE STOOMPRODUCTIE N.V. Oct. 30, 1959 [Nov. 3, 1958], No. 36938/59. Class 87(2). A method of lining pipes with plastic material, e.g. rubber or synthetic resin, comprises feeding the plastic material into the pipe through an extrusion nozzle which shapes the inside of the lining whilst being moved relative to the pipe to apply the lining. The pipe 1 has flanges 2, 6 to which are secured a moulding flange 3, with pressure inlet 4 and spew holes 5, and a moulding flange 7, with spew holes 5, attached to a pipe 8 with vacuum draw-off 9. The extrusion nozzle comprises a shaping member 14 connected to a member 12 having a supply line 10. In operation, the nozzle is inserted in the pipe until it abuts the flange 3 and plastic material is extruded until it lines the flange 2 and issues from the spew holes 5. Compressed air or steam is then admitted through the inlet 4, vacuum applied through the draw-off 9 and the nozzle moved to line the pipe and flange 6 until the plastic material emerges from the holes 5 in the flange 6. The extrusion pressure may be utilised to move the nozzle or the nozzle may be held stationary and the pressure utilised to move the pipe.
