Abstract

887,742. Scrapers: SILVESTER, F. M. Nov. 14, 1960 [Sept. 8, 1959], No. 30563/59. Class 61. A scraper for stripping and smoothing walls comprises a blade holder 10 to which a blade 14 is secured and a handle member 17 connecting the blade holder to a roller 26 rotable about an axis parallel to the cutting edge of the blade. The member 17 consists of a J-shaped metal strip having secured thereto a wooden hand grip 29. A stiffening member 21 extends between the ends of the member 17. The roller is accommodated in a slot in the projecting end 23 of the member 21, the two tongues at the end of the slot being bent to provide eyes 24 which are aligned to accommodate the spindle 25 on which the roller is mounted. A doctor blade 28 engages the outer surface of the roller. In a modification the members 17 and 21 are cast integrally.
