887,629. Releasing apparatus for pneumatic brakes. AGUDO, J. D. G. July 8, 1960 [July 11, 1959], No. 23992/60. Class 103 (1). Actuation of hand lever 4 opens a valve to destroy the vacuum or air pressure holding a vehicle's brakes applied, the re-closure of the valve being delayed. Lever 4 rotates lever 33a about a fixed pivot 35 to actuate the valve via rod 3 to release the brakes of a rail vehicle; the lever 33a also moves a piston 6 via pivot 34 and rod 17 against spring 22. On release of handle 4, the return of piston 6 and hence closure of the valve is delayed by throttling the flow of air from cylinder 7 via bores 11, 10a, 10 by an adjustable needle valve 13, 14, 15. The lever 33a may be rotated by a lever 38 on the opposite side of the vehicle, via rod 38a and hook connection 40.
