Abstract
887,406. Automatic voltage-control systems. BOSCH G.m.b.H., ROBERT. May 1, 1958 [May 2, 1957], No. 73/60. Divided out of 887,405. Class 38 (4). In an automatic voltage regulator for a shunt excited D.C. generator of the kind in which a transistor is in series with the field winding, the transistor forms an oscillator with a transformer which has windings carrying voltage and current signals. A generator G having a field F supplies a battery 50 over a rectifier D2 (which replaces the cut-out). The field F is in series with a transistor T2 which forms an oscillator with a transformer 54, which has a winding 51 in series with a Zener diode D1 across the output of the generator G. When the output voltage rises to the point where the diode D1 conducts, the pulse induced in the transformer cuts-off the transistor. The output voltage is reduced as the load current increases by a current winding 52 on the transformer connected in series with a diode D4 across a resistor R5 which carries the load current. The diode D4 is either of the kind having a pronounced kink in its forward characteristic, or is a Zener diode, in which case it would be connected in the opposite direction to that shown.
