887,095. Rotary filters. AUTOMATIC COAL CLEANING CO. Ltd. Sept. 27, 1960 [Oct. 16, 1959], No. 35071/59. Class 46. For discharging filter cake in continuous vacuum filters of the leaf or drum type, there is incorporated, in the distribution head 1 through which vacuum and pressure are applied alternatively to the filter sectors or segments, a gear train 6 to 9 driven from the filter main shaft (not shown) and driving a cam 10 for actuating a compressed air valve 19, the transmission ratio being such that at each complete revolution of the main shaft, the valve is opened as many times as there are sectors or segments so as to deliver an air pulse to each sector or segment as it reaches the discharge position. Compressed air is supplied at 27, and vacuum for cakeformation and coke-drying is applied at 30 and 32 respectively.
