Abstract

896,077. Rotary filters. DORR-OLIVER Inc. Jan. 2, 1961, No. 107/61. Class 46. In a rotary horizontal filter in which the filter table continuously rotates through a discharge station where cake is removed by a scroll or the like, the cake is propelled inwardly for discharge through a central opening. As shown, a table assembly 3, 4, 5, 9, 14, is rotated by engagement of a worm 11 with a gear 10 in a fixed casing 13 surmounted by a two-part dome 15a, 15b to which pressure is applied at 18. Slurry under pressure is supplied at an inlet (not shown) and residue is scraped by a rotating scroll 8 towards a central discharge shoot 14. Discharge pipes 4 and valve plate 9 co-operate with a fixed valve plate 6 and pipes 7 for discharging filtrate or connecting to a blow-back pressure source. The dome space is sealed from the interior of casing 13 by a seal 19 against which the part 5 rotates. Preferably part 15b has only windows 17 and is removable.
