Abstract

Preparations for the treatment of human or animal hair contain a solution of a condensation product of a polynuclear aromatic hydroxy compound, an aldehyde and a salt of sulphurous acid. Specified condensation products are those of formaldehyde, bisulphite and dioxydiphenyl-methane, dioxydiphenyl sulphone or dioxydiphenyl-dimethylmethane. In examples these condensation products are employed in admixture with a fatty alcohol containing 14-18 carbon atoms, an emulsifying agent, an ester of high molecular weight and polymeric ethylene oxide in aqueous solution. The solution advantageously has a pH of 3-5, obtained, e.g. by addition of lactic acid.
