Abstract

Non-human animal bones, e.g. cattle, sheep and pig bones, for transplanting to other animals, including humans, are preserved, while cell growth is encouraged, in blood serum or blood plasma from an animal of the same species as that from which the bone was obtained, the serum or plasma containing an anti-bacterial agent such as penicillin or sulphadiazine. The containers of bone and serum or plasma may be maintained at temperatures lower than body temperature, e.g. at 5 DEG C.
