Abstract
886,358. Electric fires. FROST & CO. Ltd., H. June 3, 1960 [June 20, 1959], No. 21229/59. Class 39(3) In a guarded-bar type of electric heater the element 1 is disposed behind a trough-shaped guard 14 supported by two terminal covers 7 which shroud the terminal ends of the element 1, there being left at each side of the guard 14 a longtitudinally extending unobstructed portion of the reflector 2, the guard 14 having its ends carried by parts 10 slid into shell portions 8 of the terminal covers 7 from the rear of the said shell portions, and the guard 14 and terminal covers 7 together forming a self-contained removable unit. Each shell portion 8 is secured by a screw 9 to a cast metal end member 3 forming part of a casing which is attached to a wallbracket Fig. 3 (not shown) which enables the heater to be swivelled about a horizontal axis. The element 1, which may be of the infra-red type including a fused silica tube or may be of the externally wound type, fits into end supports 6 Fig. 7. The ends of the bars forming the guard 14 are welded to a plate 10 which, before the shell portion 8 is attached in place is slid edgewise from the rear into grooves 11 in the shell portion 8 and the rear ends of the grooves are preferably then closed to retain the plate. Projections 21 from the member 3 locate the shell portion 8 when it is secured in position by the screw 9, and the plate 10 has an open slot which passes over the element 1.
