841,222. Electric fires ; guards ; reflectors. COLE Ltd., E. K. Nov. 4, 1958 [Aug. 9, 1957], No. 25149/57. Classes 39(3) and 126. An electric fire comprises a frame supporting a guard structure which carries a rod element and terminal connections therefor, a troughlike reflector being slidably engaged with the guard structure so as to be removable in an endwise direction therefrom. As shown, end brackets 1 of a supporting frame 2 pivotally carry an arcuate-section guard 4 within each end portion of which is mounted an insulating block 5 to which are attached a terminal pillar 7 and a bracket 6 to hold the screwthreaded rod 8 of an element 9 consisting of a silica tube housing a resistance wire stretched between end caps 13. A reflector 14 has tongues 14a welded near each of its four corners to provide, together with adjacent parts of the reflector, arcuate slots which engage the straight edges of the guard when the reflector is slid into position in an endwise direction. The angular position of the reflector with respect to the element 9 is adjustable, and detachable end shields 15 cover the terminal connections and ends of the guard structure.
