Abstract
886,354. Sheet-delivery apparatus. COMPAGNIE DES MACHINES BULL. March 5, 1959 [March 6, 1958], No. 7713/59. Class 100(1) [Also in Group XIX] In a record card machine an indication that the card-receiving pocket is full is provided by a lever 3, Fig. 1, against which the cards above a certain level bear and displace to close a contact 5. The first cards 6b to enter the pocket pass the lever without displacing it and fall to the bottom of the pocket. When the cards reach a certain level, following cards 6a can no longer tilt sufficiently to get past the lever and come to rest supported by it, and the weight of a certain number of these cards overcomes the force of a spring 4 to close the contacts 5. This may interrupt the feed of cards. The lowermost cards 6b may be withdrawn sideways through an opening in the wall of the pocket so that cards 6a fall to the bottom and the contacts 5 open to re-start the card feed. The lever 3 may be on the opposite pocket wall as shown in Fig. 3, so that the uppermost cards bear against it by a sliding action on the lower cards. In another modification two pockets each with a vertically displaceable floor are arranged side by side. Cards normally feed into the first pocket, but when this is full the lever 3 is operated to swing a deflector flap to such a position that succeeding cards pass to the other pocket.
