Abstract

1,186,100. Delivering sheets. BULL GENERAL ELECTRIC (NEDERLAND) N.V. 8 Nov., 1967, [18 Nov., 1966], No. 50799/67. Heading B8R. A machine for stacking record cards comprises a plurality of reception compartments, one of which is shown diagrammatically in Figs. 12 and 13. Each compartment is provided with a card supporting tray mounted on a vertical guide rod, the tray and rod being suspended by spring 129 adapted to maintain the upper surface of the stack at a constant level as cards accumulate. Manual operation of device 144 releases member 175 to allow the tray, rod, and spring 129 to descend to a lower position, Fig. 13, where the cards may be unloaded. Simultaneously device 144 actuates retaining member 155 to retain cards which arrive or are situated above the member 155 after the actuation of device 144. Upon removal of the stack spring 180 returns the tray, rod and spring 129 to their upper, collecting, position and member 175 again becomes locked in its initial position by catch 170. A latch member 182 retaining a catch 185 holds the card retaining member 155 in its active position until the tray returns to its uppermost position when the catch is released by member 175. The device 144 may be locked against actuation until a predetermined number of cards has accumulated on the tray. Cylinder 187 damps the return of the tray to its uppermost position under the action of spring 180.
