Abstract

1,265,351. Milled coin separator. COIN ACCEPTORS Inc. 16 Jan., 1969 [10 Sept., 1968], No. 2551/69. Heading G4V. An assembly for separating milled coins from smooth-edged coins comprises a pivoted arm 21 having a feeler 22 pivotally mounted thereon, said feeler 22 including a finger 34 which engages the edge of a coin rolling or sliding down rail 14. A milled coin 15 engages finger 34 and feeler 22 rotates, thus rotating arm 21, checking coin 15 and deflecting it in the indicated direction by way of adjustable guide bar 51. An unmilled coin hits deflector plate 46, and is deflected to the left of bar 51. When the coin has passed, feeler 22 rotates back to its initial position. Stop means 42, 43 (Fig. 4) limit the rotation of feeler 22 about pin 36 in both directions. Stop means are also provided to limit the rotation of arm 21, comprising an L- shaped plate in one direction and a margin 32 of the hole in the plate 11 in the other direction. Some of the momentum of a smooth edged coin can be taken up by arm 21 and feeler 22.
