Abstract

796,157. Card - feeding apparatus. POWERS - SAMAS ACCOUNTING MACHINES, Ltd. May 30, 1956 [June 3, 1955], No. 16048/55. Class 117 The bottom card of magazine 1 is removed by a set of pushers 11, each pusher being pivoted at 12 and spring influenced at 16, and the pushers being carried by bar 13 reciprocated by cam 28 through drive link 26 and a drive arm 23, rods 21 acting as guides. The bottom of the magazine is formed as a sloping ramp 4 so that as the pushers 11 move horizontally to the left the tip of the pusher engages the rest of the pile and takes the weight thereof whilst discharging the lowermost card through throat 8. The latter is formed by adjustable throat knife 9, the inner surface 10 of which slopes inwards. The ramp 4 is provided with recesses 33, not shown, so that the bottom card rests upon narrow ridges formed with slots through which the pushers move. These ridges bear the full weight of the stack of cards, the weight serving to flatten any burred edge of the bottom card. The Provisional Specification describes also an alternative construction in which the bottom of the magazine may be formed horizontal and the pushers as they pass to the left may be given a rising movement by means of stationary cams.
