Abstract

338,378. Stone, A. A., and Molins Machine Co., Ltd. Nov. 23, 1929. Feeding articles from stacks or piles by pusher devices engaging their edges.-In mechanism for feeding sheets of thick paper, cardboard &c. from the bottom of a pile of the type in which the lowermost sheet is first bowed transversely by a suction device and is then carried from the pile by a reciprocating tooth, the suction member and the tooth are connected together with lost motion so that they take part in the feeding movement after the tooth has engaged the edge of the sheet. In the construction described, the sheets 1 are carried in a magazine 2, and the suction devices 5 on a slide 6 moving on guide rollers 16 on a member 7 which is vertically reciprocated by a cam 8. The feed tooth 3 moves in guides in the member 6 and is reciprocated by the cam-actuated lever 10, link 9 and pin 3<a>. A pin 13 on the link 9 engages a slot 14 in the member 6 which is caused thereby to move with the tooth after the latter has moved into engagement with the lowest sheet.
