[Also in Group XXII] An appliance having a conducting casing la adapted to be connected to earth is provided with an earth-continuity indicating lamp 12 mounted in a recess 23 of the casing by means of an externally detachable bracket 25 and visible through an inspection hole or window 24. The lamp 12 may be a neon lamp which is connected to the junction between resistors 10, 11 connected between the line conductor 7 and an earth lead 9. The resistor 11 may be omitted or replaced by a small capacitor. The resistors 10, 11 and a single or double pole switch 6 may be arranged within the casing of the appliance and a fuse 13 may be connected in series with the resistor 10.
