Abstract
1,220,063. Circuit testing. SOUTH EASTERN GAS BOARD. July 5, 1968 [July 6, 1967], No. 31226/67. Heading G1U. A circuit including a force balance transmitter 10 incorporates a zener diode 16 through which a signal current from the transmitter normally flows when the circuit is operational, and the circuit is adapted so that a testing circuit may be connected in parallel with the Zener diode, in order to test the operation of the circuit. The force balance transmitter controls a current in the circuit, derived from a separate power source 14, as a function of a measured value in e. g. a chemical processing plant, whose operation is to be controlled or indicated at 11, independently of changes of resistance in other parts of the circuit. Contacts are provided at either side of the Zener diode and may be connected to a socket 17 to which a meter 15 is connectible via a plug 18. The connection of the meter will by-pass the diode, without breaking operation of the circuit. Two Zener diodes connected back to back may be used Fig. 6 (not shown).
