Abstract
885,961. Purifying gas. GUINOT, H. M. Feb. 24, 1960 [April 4, 1959]. No. 6527/60. Class 55 (2). In a process for removing hydrogen sulphide from a gas containing hydrogen sulphide the gas is scrubbed with an aqueous solution of ferric salts in which the greater part of the iron is in the form of one or more ferric salts of lower aliphatic carboxylic acids and the remainder in the form of ferric sulphate. The ferric salts of mono- or di-carboxylic acids or hydroxy-carboxylic acids containing 2-4 carbon atoms, e.g. acetic, propionic, butyric and lactic acid, may be employed. In an example the scrubbing solution contained ferric iron in the following proportions by weight: ferric propionate 55%, ferric acetate 25%, ferric lactate 10%, ferric sulphate 10%. Used scrubbing liquid is regenerated by radiation with an oxygen-containing gas. Specification 769,854 is referred to.
