Abstract

885,765. Supplying current to moving conductors; cables. INSUL-8-CORP. April 26, 1960, No. 14635/60. Classes 36 and 38 (1). A conductor bar assembly for a distribution system comprises a substantially 8- shaped bar 2 surrounded by a generally U-shaped plastics sheath 10, the side walls of which are shaped to provide opposed pairs of arcuate portions 34, 36 and 30, 32 embracing the circular parts 4, 6 respectively of the bar whilst the mouth of the sheath provides access to the part 6 for the collector arm of a trolley. Grooves 38, 40 formed on the exterior surfaces of the side walls of the sheath by and between the pairs of arcuate portions are engaged by the arms 50, 52 of U-shaped supporting brackets located at intervals along the assembly. A mounting bolt 60 passes through the base of the bracket and the arms are drawn together by a nut and bolt 66, 64. In the operative position of said arms, the spacing between their ends is less than the diameter of the part 4 of the bar so that in the event of the sheath being melted or burned out, the bar will not fall out of the bracket.
