885,203. Angular bending. HILMOR Ltd. and HAWES, J. H. April 9, 1958 [April 10 1957], No. 11790/57. Class 83 (4). A tube-bending machine comprises framearm-plate, a forming tool mounting intermediate the ends of the frame-arm plate and adapted to have a forming tool pivotally mounted in it, a ram pivotally connected to the frame-arm plate between the forming-tool mounting and one end of the frame-arm plate and adapted to be pivotally connected at one end to a forming tool, a roller mounting intermediate the forming tool mounting and the other end of the frame-arm plate, and a mandrel support connected to the frame-arm plate extending transversely thereof and adapted to support a mandrel aligned between the forming tool mounting and roller mounting, the mandrel support having a slideway or slot extending substantially parallel to the frame-arm plate to which slideway or slot the end of a mandrel may be releasably clamped at any position along the length of the slideway or slot. A tube 34 to be bent is supported on a mandrel 29 and clamped at 33 to a former 20 pivoted at 21 between a pair of spaced plates 11. A roller 24 mounted in one pair of holes 23 in the plates 11 bears on a grooved shield 32 between it and the tube 34. The former 20 is rotated to bend the tube by a screw 17 pivoted at 19 to the former and threaded through a block 14 pivoted to the plates 11. Alternatively, a handoperated hydraulic ram could be used. The mandrel 29 is clamped in a slot in a plate 28 supported by four rods 27 mounted in sockets 26 in the plates 11. The pressure roller 24 may be adjustable by an eccentric or by screw means. Only one plate 11 may be provided.
