Abstract

885,193. Insulators. ETABLISSEMENTS MERLIN & GERIN. Jan. 15, 1960, No. 1594/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 36. A post insulator comprises two or more sections, each section being built up from a plurality of conical skirts and having male and female metallic end fittings of conical shape similar to that of the skirts so that they can fit into or over a skirt with just sufficient clearance for jointing material and that a male end fitting will fit closely into a female end fitting. The requisite number of sections with end fittings is assembled one upon the other with the appropriate end fittings interengaged; the flanges with which the latter are provided then being bolted together. The upper end of the insulator column may be provided with a top skirt and metal cap. The external diameter of the skirts may be made progressively less section by section towards the top of the insulator column.
