Abstract
885,151. Anamorphotic lens systems. J ACOBSEN, J. L. W. Aug. 21, 1958, No. 26943/58. Class 97(1). The system comprises an objective and an afocal anamorphotic lens system including a first anamorphoser adapted to produce an image-compression in a first direction and a second anamorphoser adapted to produce an image-expansion in a second direction at right angles to the first direction, the imagecompression factor in the first direction and the image-expansion factor in the second direction having a quotient equal to the desired anamorphotic factor of the whole system. The first anamorphoser may comprise a rear positive cylindrical component and two spaced negative cylindrical components and the second anamorphoser may comprise a positive cylindrical component and a rear negative cylindrical component, the negative cylindrical component of the second anamorphoser and one of those belonging to the first anamorphoser having equal power and preferably been constituted by a single spherical component. In Fig. 5, the first anamorphoser is formed by lenses 5, 7, 2 and the second one by lenses 3, 9. In the example of Fig. 6, a sphere-cylindrical doublet L 3 , L 4 serves to achromatise the lenses L 1 , L 2 and lenses L 5 , L 7 achromatise lenses L 6 , L 8 . Optical data are given for the embodiment of Fig. 6.
