Abstract
885,014. Transistor frequency-changing circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO. Ltd. Sept. 29, 1960 [March 23, 1960], No. 10375/60. Class 40(6). An arrangement for mixing high-frequency voltage waves from two low-impedance sources, comprises a first transistor 11 to the base of which are applied waves from the one source through an impedance, comprising resistor 9 and blocking condenser 7, which is high relative to the impedance of that source. The base circuit of the transistor 11 is completed by a high-frequency choke 13. The second source is fed in an exactly similar manner to a second transistor 12. The transistors 11, 12 are connected as emitter followers, being resistance-capacity coupled to a pair of further transistors 21, 22 respectively which have their emitters coupled together over condenser 23. The collectors are joined together to a tap on tuned circuit 31, across which the beat frequency appears. The arrangement provides a high degree of isolation between the two sources.
