883,829. Cutting-out presses. DOBSON, W. F. Sept. 14, 1959 [June 12, 1958; Feb. 25, 1959], Nos. 18759/58 and 6478/59. Class 31 (1). [Also in Group XVII] A device for severing circular blanks from a web comprises an annulus 55 over which the web passes and which has a series of short slots 56 extending adjacent its inner rim, and an annulus 58 yieldingly supported from a vertically reciprocating member 61 and having a circle of downwardly directed pins 57 corresponding to the slots. As the member 61 descends, a pressure plate 59 holds the web against the annulus 55 and the pins enter the slots to perforate the web. Further movement causes the annulus 58 to be rotated slightly so that the pins partially sever the blank which is finally pressed out on to a convener 1 beneath by a plate 64 moving with the member 61. The annulus 58 is supported from a bar 60 sliding in slots 61a in the member 61 against a spring 66.
