Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0883745/IV (b)/1> and pharmaceutically acceptable non-toxic acid addition salts thereof wherein X is hydrogen, a methyl radical or a phenyl radical; Z is a phenyl cyclohexyl, methoxyphenyl or methoxycyclohexyl radical; Y is hydrogen or a hydroxyl radical; R is a phenyl, phenoxy, benzhydryl, furyl, indolyl, methoxyphenyl, dimethoxyphenyl, halophenyl, pyrazinyl, cyclohexyl or cyclopentyl radical and n is an integer smaller than 7 and processes for the preparation thereof (a) by the reductive amination of a compound of the general formula <FORM:0883745/IV (b)/2> by heating with a compound of the general formula <FORM:0883745/IV (b)/3> and hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst where R, X, Y, Z and n are as defined above or (b) by mixing a compound of the formula <FORM:0883745/IV (b)/4> with a compound of the formula <FORM:0883745/IV (b)/5> wherein one of the groups A and B is hydrogen and the other is halogen and R, X, Y, Z and n are as defined above. Illustrative products of the invention are 4-(1-methyl-2-phenylethylamino) - 2 - phenylmorpholine, 3 - methyl - 4 - (1 - methyl - 2 - phenylethylamino) - 2 - phenyl - morpholine and the levo- and dextro forms thereof, levo - 4 - (2 - hydroxy - 1 - methyl - 2 - phenylethylamino) - 3 - methyl - 2 - phenyl - morpholine, 4 - (1 - methyl - 2 - phenylethyl - amino) - 2, 3 - diphenyl - morpholine, 2 - cyclo - hexyl - 3 - methyl - 4 - (1 - methyl - 2 - phenyl - ethyl-amino) morpholine, levo-2-cyclohexyl-4-2 - hydroxy - 1 - methyl - 2 - phenyl - ethylamino) - 3 - methylmorpholine, 3 - methyl - 4 - (a - methyl - benzylamino) - 2 - phenylmorpholine, 3 - methyl - 4-(a -methylfurfurylamino)-2-phenyl-morpholine, 3-methyl-4-(1-methyl-2b -indoleethylamino)-2-phenylmorpholine, 3 - methyl - 4 - [1 - methyl - 2 - (3, 4 - dimethoxyphenyl) - ethylamino] - 2 - phenylmorpholine, 2 - (4 - methoxyphenyl) - 3 - methyl - 4 - (1 - methyl - 2 - phenyl - ethylamino) morpholine and pharmaceutically acceptable non-toxic acid addition salts thereof.
