Abstract

883,415. Circuits employing bi-stable magnetic elements. POSTMASTER GENERAL. May 2, 1958 [Feb. 4, 1957], No. 3789/57. Class 40 (9). An output pulse is produced in a lead L2 by way of a transistor VT1 when a direct current in a lead L falls below or exceeds predetermined limits, the direct current being applied to windings A on ferrite cores X1, X2, having rectangular hysteresis loops which are periodically driven to the set condition by pulses α2 and have output windings C connected to the transistor. Core XI is reset and produces an output pulse when the direct current exceeds a predetermined value, while core X2 is periodically reset by reference current pulses α1 in winding D which act in oppositionto the direct current in winding A. Core X2 therefore produces an output pulse in its winding C if the direct current is below a given value. The α1 and α2 pulses are applied alternatively to the cores so that the initial set conditions are re-established, the reference current pulse α1 being applied over a further core X3 and a transistor VT2.
