882,963. Electric battery lamps. CHENG, W. G. June 9, 1960 [Dec. 8, 1959], No. 41703/59. Class 39(2) An electric battery lamp or torch comprises a battery casing of two lamp bulb holders associated with reflectors mounted side by side on the casing so as to produce two parallel beams of light, the two bulbs being energized by means of a single switch. In the form shown, the casing 1 has a lid 4 supporting a carrying handle 51 on which the switch 81 for the two bulbs is mounted. The bulbs are carried in side-by-side shells 29 in a common carrier 19 pivoted on a bracket 15 on the front of the casing 1. Hinged to the front part of the lid at 59 is a U-shaped frame 55A of channel cross-section to the ends of the arms of which is hinged second U-shaped frame 55B supporting a casing 57 containing a third bulb 103 controlled by a separate switch 95. The combined length of the frames 55A, 55B is greater than that of the handle so that the combination can lie along the top of the lid with the bulb 103 directed to the rear. It can also be swung to a position at an angle to the casing as shown. The width of the channel of frame 55A is greater than that of the arms of the frame 55B so that the latter can be folded down at the hinge 61 with the bulb 103 directed forwards parallel to the bulbs in the shells 29. The frames 55A, 55B can also be arranged at right angles to one another, a flat spring on the frame 55B engaging a shaped part on the frame 55A to retain the two frames in any one of the three relative positions. The bulbs in the shells 29 are preferably wired in parallel. Specification 827,695 is referred to.
