A single-lens reflex camera comprises a hinged mirror, a hinged light protecting flap, a common operating means for both these members to hold in rigid a light proof manner against a frame (a) the mirror when in the exposure position and (b) the flap when in the viewing position, and separate transmission means connecting said members to the operating means. As shown in Fig. 3 a mirror 20 and a flap 25 (shown in the exposure position) are rotatably fixed on pins 23 to part of the camera casing. The operating means comprises a rod 9 carrying two wheels 10, 11 each having cam slots 12, 13 in which pins 29 engage. Each pin 29 is fixed to an arm 26 which together with arm 30 (or 40) is fixed rotatable to the camera housing by screw 28. An eccentric pin 34 on arm 30 moves in a slot 35 in arm 26. A spring 39 is carried on a sleeve 32 between the two arms, with one end 39a held under screw 28. The other end 39b together with projection 36 on arm 30 engage either side of a pin 38 of the mirror frame (or pin 42 on the flap). The springs, projections and cam slots are adapted so that when the mirror and flap are in the exposure position the mirror is held rigidly by the projection against a light sealing frame and the flap is held resiliently in place by its spring and vice versa when they are in the viewing position. The rod 9 is held in one of these positions by a latch (not shown) and in the other by spring 14.
