Abstract

882,562. Cigarette-making machines. NEUERBURG G.m.b.H., HANS. Feb. 12, 1959 [Feb. 20, 1958], No. 4928/59. Class 130. [Also in Groups XXXV and XL (b)] Cut tobacco is fed from a store box 3e on to a rotating table 1 on which it is formed into an endless sliver above which are situated nozzles 4 which feed the tobacco, e.g. pneumatically, to a plurality of cigarette-making machines. A conveyer 3f delivers the tobacco to spiked rollers 3a, 3b, which feed the tobacco on to the conical centre portion of table 1. The nozzles 4, Fig. 3, are shoe-shaped and have a pivoted flap portion 4c which opens to prevent large lumps of tobacco blocking the nozzles. The rate of feed of tobacco is controlled by a photo-electric device 6 controlling the motor 9 driving the conveyer 3f. The speed of the motor may also be adjusted in accordance with signals generated when a nozzle 4, controlled by a valve 5, is brought into operation.
