882,520. Positive clutches. GETRAG GETRIEBEUND ZAHNRADFABRIK G.m.b.H. Jan. 2, 1958 [Jan. 2, 1957], No. 214/58. Class 80 (2). In a change-speed gear, pinions 10, 11 are selectively clutched to a gear shaft 2 by sliding a selector rod 1 axially so that a head la thereon forces balls 4 radially outwards into pockets 13 in the pinion hubs, the head 1a being the central portion of a stepped enlargement having the profile shown in Fig. 1 and arranged in such a way that when the selector rod is in the central, neutral, position, axially slidable lock-pins 15 engage the balls and hold them against shoulders 1b on the rod to prevent their radial movement by centrifugal force &c.
