Change-speed planetary gearing comprises multiple planets 4 . . . 7 on a planet shaft 1 in a carrier, the planets meshing ring gears 8 . . . 11, respectively, which are guided radially only by the planet pinions but are restrained from axial movement by discs 12 . . . 14 on the planet shaft engaging in grooves integral with the ring gears or in members carried thereby. The discs 12 . . . 14 may be fast with, or free for rotation upon, the planet shaft 1, and are prevented from moving axially along the planet shaft by the planet pinions 4 . . . 7. Each disc, e.g. the disc 14, may engage a single ring gear 11, or, e.g. the disc 13, may engage two ring gears 9, 10. When the grooves in ring gears are formed in separate rings 15, the rings and ring gears are held together by a spring ring 16. The peripheries of the discs 12 . . . 14 taper radially. Several shafts 1 &c. are provided.
