971,500. Differential gears. HUMBER Ltd., A. W. WEST, and J. LEWIS. March 29, 1963 [April 16, 1962], No. 14703/62. Heading F2D. In a bevel pinion differential gear the thrust bearings 25, 26 for the planet carrier are mounted in aligned housing sleeves 10, 11 with smooth internal cylindrical portions and fixed in the casing 14, and engage axial adjusting sleeves 30, 31 engaging internal threads in the sleeves 10, 11. The outer cylindrical surfaces of the housing sleeves have flanges 16, 17 engaging annular recesses in casing 14. Each bearing has associated sealing rings 38, 39 and the casing is provided with an inspection cover 42 held in place by a snap-ring 46.
