Abstract
The sodium salt of acetylsalicylic acid is prepared by rapidly removing the water from a solution thereof at temperatures below 10 DEG C. The solution may be one obtained by neutralizing a water slurry of acetylsalicylic acid with a sodium base, the pH thereof being maintained in the range 6.0-7.0.ALSO:Pharmaceutical preparations contain sodium acetylsalicylate, prepared by rapidly removing the water from a solution of the salt at temperatures below 10 DEG C., and an effervescent couple consisting of molar equivalents of sodium bicarbonate and citric acid. Reference is also made to preparations containing other types of carrier. The various preparations may be in the form of tablets, capsules or solutions.
