Abstract

Sodium betaine aspartate and its hydrate are prepared by reacting aspartic acid with sodium hydroxide and then with betaine. The salt has a lipotropic action and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing it, with or without other (unspecified) active ingredients, and a carrier.
